can't see how its uprated or how it would fit the 200tdi as both in and out are at one end the standard one is in the bottom out the top

Yeh it sits in front of the radiator.

I thought it would obstruct air flow to the radiator but apparently not.

most vehicles with a turbo have the intercooler in front of the rad' and many have a air con' rad in front of it as well, "radiator pack" ring any bells

i stuck a td5 intercooler across the front of my 200tdi rad' in my 109, i've not experienced any over heating problems even in the two years prior to fitting a fan for the odd exceptionally hot laning day, my 88" generally only ever gets the fan turned on just to check it's still working due to getting dunked a few times a year (both engines are 200tdi)

Thats interesting. I assume the TD5 intercooler is just bigger than the original 200tdi one?

In your opinion is that just as effective as the probably over priced Allisport ones. I'm only bidding on this one as i thought its a cheaper way of upgrading my intercool. I could get a second hand TD5 for for much cheaper

i've no idea if it's bigger or better really, it has more surface area so i guess it'll cool a little more effectively but i've no idea if it'll flow better

i just fitted it because i wanted a tidy arrangement, i think it's a far tidier fitting than the full 200tdi radiator/intercooler surround under the Series bonnet

since putting it together i've strapped a nice push fan on the front of the intercooler to drop the engine temperature when needed (rarely) and even blowing through the intercooler it drops the temperatures rapidly
