I don't know about mohair soft tops, but I have a good pair of mohair socks - nice and warm:) Why not ask Exmoor trim if they'll send you some sample swatches of canvas and mohair so you can compare them?

Is the one you've found a series Land-Rover too? I think you should try to snap it up even if only to sell on to someone who will restore it. I reckon most people in the Series section of the forum would love to see some photos of it, especially of the underneath.

200Tdi one it is, gonna be a bastard to get the starter off. A fair bit of the exhaust system will have to be removed to gain access. I'm going to see if just a strip down and clean up will do the job first, but thanks for the offer:)

I don't think it's worth the hastle or expense of fitting an LT77 gearbox to go with the Tdi engine. The UJs on the rear propshaft on an 88" Land Rover are very close to binding with the rear suspension fully extended. With the longer LT77 box the propshaft would have to be shortened which...

The ideal engine to use would be the 200Tdi engine fitted to Defenders as this version has an exhaust manifold which positions the turbo high up on the engine. They are not as readily available or as cheap as the 200Tdi Disco engine though. Another option might be to buy a Disco 200Tdi engine...

Have you checked the turbo wastegate actuating mechanism? Perhaps the problem is caused by the wastegate jamming open. When the problem crops up again get the bonnet up and make sure the actuating lever for the wastegate is in the closed position.

I hate to admit it but I like the idea of fitting rubber shields under the wheelarches to stop the rear x-member and outrigers getting sprayed with water and ****e. I suppose the law of averages means that BoB is bound to come up with at least 1 good idea (by accident) during his whole lifetime.

Nooo - it's nice that! To my eye it looks much better than one of the thousand of modern 'plastic fantastic' campers clogging up the roads around here at the moment.
