    paddocks soft top

I don't know about mohair soft tops, but I have a good pair of mohair socks - nice and warm:) Why not ask Exmoor trim if they'll send you some sample swatches of canvas and mohair so you can compare them?

    Is it worth saving a 6 x 6 ?

Is the one you've found a series Land-Rover too? I think you should try to snap it up even if only to sell on to someone who will restore it. I reckon most people in the Series section of the forum would love to see some photos of it, especially of the underneath.

    Radiator with oil cooler?

    What are you building then?

What have you done to your Landie today.

200Tdi one it is, gonna be a bastard to get the starter off. A fair bit of the exhaust system will have to be removed to gain access. I'm going to see if just a strip down and clean up will do the job first, but thanks for the offer:)

What have you done to your Landie today.

Some electronics technicians I work with would consider that job done and dusted!

What have you done to your Landie today.

Repeatedly listening to my starter solonoid on mu SIII daily driver going 'click'. At the moment on average it takes about 15 attempts before it will work - ****in thing - no time to fix it at the moment either.

    Welsh Greenlanes

You could spend days looking at difinitive maps in county council offices to find out if a trail is legal to drive. The next best (and considerably easier) thing you can do to research trails is to join GLASS and use their trailwise greenlane database: TrailWise - The National Catalogue of...

Perkins engine water leak from head gasket

Might be worth taking the head off to have a look and just change the gasket if that's all that's wrong with it.

    LT77/R380 in a Lightweight?

I don't think it's worth the hastle or expense of fitting an LT77 gearbox to go with the Tdi engine. The UJs on the rear propshaft on an 88" Land Rover are very close to binding with the rear suspension fully extended. With the longer LT77 box the propshaft would have to be shortened which...

    Welsh Greenlanes

I've not done any laning around Newport, but there are quite a few lanes between Abercynon and Neath on Landranger 170 OS map. I've driven some nice lanes around the Afan Valley and then there is the Southern section of Sarn Helen (which I think is currently open) between Aberdulais and Dyffryn...

200 / 300 tdi into a SerIII Who to ask?

The ideal engine to use would be the 200Tdi engine fitted to Defenders as this version has an exhaust manifold which positions the turbo high up on the engine. They are not as readily available or as cheap as the 200Tdi Disco engine though. Another option might be to buy a Disco 200Tdi engine...

    200tdi Power Loss

Have you checked the turbo wastegate actuating mechanism? Perhaps the problem is caused by the wastegate jamming open. When the problem crops up again get the bonnet up and make sure the actuating lever for the wastegate is in the closed position.

    Wales Trip North-mid wales

****in right! Tomorrow I'll be packing the bike up and taking the ferry to Ireland. My planning has consisted of buying the tickets for the ferry and deciding to head west.

    fuel gauge problems

I'd say it's most likely to be the fuel guage sender in the tank. I took one to bits on my IIA and I'd not be surprised if the Defender one is of similar design. It was a variable resistor which has a wiper running over a coil of wire. If the coil has a break halfway along it's length it...

    flaps!

I hate to admit it but I like the idea of fitting rubber shields under the wheelarches to stop the rear x-member and outrigers getting sprayed with water and ****e. I suppose the law of averages means that BoB is bound to come up with at least 1 good idea (by accident) during his whole lifetime.
  17. fenby1976

    rear exit exhaust anyone..?

Do us all a favour BoB and reroute the tail pipe to exit within the cab;)

    And another chancer

The fuel filler looks like it could be from 1961. You never know - it could be a very early prototype 90:rolleyes:

200 / 300 tdi into a SerIII Who to ask?

You'd have to be one **** hot mechanic to do a 200Tdi conversion in 2 days or a ruthless botchmaster.

    2B FC Camper

Nooo - it's nice that! To my eye it looks much better than one of the thousand of modern 'plastic fantastic' campers clogging up the roads around here at the moment.
