Hi Ive just about had enough of my 2.5 n/a diesel engine. Theres hardly any power and now various leaks. So how much would it cost to have a used 200tdi fitted? I would also need them to supply the new engine as well. Im pretty sure my mechanical knowledge would not stretch to do this job...

Hi On my 87 defender 2.5 N/A the diesel is ****ing out of the spring on top of the pump that controls the accelerator. How hard is it to put this right or is it a specialist job? Cheers Chris

Yes mine were clicking like mad aswell and as said when you take them out you sometimes cant see any damage. If you do this yourself and it is fairly straight forward if you buy the complete kit. However, it is one very messy job! Goodluck Chris

Ok thanks Odenne. Its funny you should suggest that as ive managed to check the wire from the sender unit to where it comes out in the engine bay. It then goes into a socket and disappears into the back of the fuse board which ive not managed to check with a meter. I did wiggle the wires around...

Ive had an ongoing problem with my fuel guage-it keeps reading full. Ive just fitted a new sender unit and its still doing the same. Ive also checked the earth and still no joy, traced the wires back to the clock and i cant see anything wrong. So what would make the guage shoot over to full...

Yes theres 3 lugs on the sender unit. The problem is I can only get to 1 of them and Ive already knocked that one off. I cant see anything else holding it in. It was working after I gave it a clout but ive been out tonight and its gone to full again. Really not sure how to get that out now...

Well I tried to beat the little bstd out with a hammer and punch but it just wont shift. Looks like ill have to take the tank off and then try to get it out. On a lighter note-I connected the wires back onto the unit and its started working again. How long for I dont know! Cheers Chris

Hi I need to replace the fuel sender unit on my 110 n/a diesel. Firstly, is it possible to remove this without taking the tank off which is at the back of the Landrover? Also, will I need to bleed the system afterwards? Cheers Chris

Cheers it was a wiring fault from the sender unit.

Hi Me fuel gauge goes to full every time I switch the ignition on which would be a good thing only I know ive only got under half a tank of fuel. So is the sender unit knackered-if so how easy is it to get out or is there something else i can try? Cheers Chris

So how about a good quality black metal paint sprayed onto a clean chassis e.g. hamerite smooth?
