If either of you are heading over to Melton at some point give me a shout as it's my local area. I know a couple of interesting lanes one I wouldn't try solo. Likewise if you want a tag on around Newark let me know :-)

    15/40 semi synthetic engine oil

They only do chevron in 10w 40 or 5w 30 in the 20l drums in Costco. I run the 10w 40 and it's good stuff. Euro car parts do it cheap too: http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-accessories/engine-oils-and-car-fluids/engineoils/10w40-engine-oil/?521776011&0&cc5_245

    Britparts that have lasted

Britpart temperature sensor for my N/A.....fitted and worked straight out the box. Still going after 3 months....wonder if it will make it to a year.

What have you done to your Landie today.

Replaced the ignition switch as it wouldn't trigger the glow plugs and the key had to be held in position 3 to keep it running. Hardest bit was the grub screw the rear of the barrel.

    2,5 na

I'd put just shy of 6 in, run it check level then top up to just below the max. These engines don't take kindly to being overfilled.

    What to paint chequerplate with?

As per matchmetisse you will need to acid etch the ally if you want to go down the painting route, else the paint won't get a good key.

    Peak District lanes??

Marmaduke - I see you are fairly local to me. You will have to come over to Melton Mowbray area if you fancy a days laneing. My mate who I go out with (who doesn't have a landy at the mo) lives in Ashby. I'm busy the next few weekend but will probably be out again in a month or so.

    What can causing this?

Nope doesn't sound right. Your measuring it at the battery, so you can rule out any wiring between it and the alternator as it did rise to over 13v at one point. Are you sure the alternator belt isn't slipping? Failing that the problem lies with the alternator. You may get away with new...
