Planning my first oil change and I'm looking for an oil filter for the MY 2012 2.2 Defender engine. Nobody seems to list this newer engine under their Defender parts list as yet. Does anyone know if it is the same filter as another model like the Disco 2.2 or the Puma 2.4? Can go to the dealer but prefer to pay less....
Thanks for any help....

Surely the dealer should be doing the servicing if you bought it this year? - As it's a new engine type, aftermarket companies may not have started production of this new filter. I would doubt the Puma 2.4 is the same filter type as the 2.2 2012 is a completly redesigned engine. The only options I think you have are to go to the dealer or to contact a Land Rover specialist (i.e John Craddock) and see if they can order you a cheaper aftermarket part. Good luck.

1st dealer scheduled service is at 20000 km, (and you have to pay for the service). I don't think 20k oil changes are sufficient, especially the first one, so I was going to do this one myself at 7k. Oil change is an easy task and I can do it for much less than the dealer asks....if I can find the damn filter! Checked Craddocks, no 2.2 filter listed, but I haven't tried calling. Hoped somone here would know....

Just go to the main dealer and get the genuine part, make bloody sure you use the right oil too. You've spent a tidy sum on a new vehicle and now you want to skin a fart to save a penny or two. :der:

That is incorrect, changing the oil early (with the correct oil and filter type) does not invalidate the LR warranty as long as the factory scheduled service intervals are also followed and documented.

You'll be squealing like a stuck pig if owt goes wrong and they discover a non genuine filter in there :D:D:D

The dealer will sell you a filter, we usually buy them from the dealer or from someone else who sells genuine

Genuine parts = no invalidation of warranty
