I had a similar issue on my 300tdi after fitting a new tensioner, chased it for weeks, spent an afternoon moving a penny about, in the end I swapped the tensioner for a genuine part and sent the first replacement back for a refund.

I can't speculate on that mate, I can only report what I did and how it turned out. Both times I tried it the engine stopped within about 8-10 seconds. If there's no air getting into the engine it will stop, regardless of the fuel it's using*, or it's breaking the laws of chemistry...

Yeah, I used a heavy duty gash bag on my 300tdi, and I used a waterproof coat on on my mates 200tdi. If it won't stop running it's getting air from somewhere besides the top of the snorkel, or it's braking the laws of chemistry.

Once you've sealed the snorkel, test it with a heavy duty plastic bag wrapped over it, if it stalls you're good to go ;)

The tablets can run sat-nav android apps just like yer phone, but I've not found one that speaks, or works that well either. You can run goggle maps to find addresses etc. but it needs a net connection. There's hardly any lag on the nexus GPS using MM. Mite be best having a dedicated sat-nav if...

Check all your engine/body earth straps and clean them too, could try using a jump lead from battery neg to engine, if all that fails it's probably the solenoid.
