Hi all wonder if you can help? We have had our disco for over a year now and spent the best part of four grand just keeping it on the road, new gearbox, ACE system diesel pump.... It has now started to make a noise like a fan belt slipping, trouble it it's intermittent and a certain rev ranges -...

I have a 2003 TD5 ES Diesel Auto, question is when should it change into 4th gear seems to need to go up to 65 mph just over 3000 rpm is this right?? Its a brand new box

Sadly we didnt think to check the oil before the work started, we did the seals because it was driving and then stopping for no reason :(

As you may have seen from previous post...It just stopped....My mechanic mananged to solve the issue of the damm thing stopping by replacing the seals BUT on a test run he pulled up at a set of lights and the 'cow' revved her head off, practically red lining for about 15 to 20 seconds, blowing...

Update - still not working mehanic has replaced the seals around the injectors? Replaced the wiring loom that goes into the ECU - another common fault? Replaced the filter - primed with diesel first, think it must be the pump now - well hope so otherwise its going to be the most expensive garden...

@ Dufty - more like an upside down sandwich box if you look at it from the A38... Mechanic thinks its the diesel pump! This bloody thing will be the death of me, good job I love driving it, well when it allows me too :D

Sorry - 2003 TD5 DIESEL Auto, Bloody thing cost me £2500 for a gearbox three weeks after parting with £6500 to buy it if the fuel pump has gone now I am going to drive it off a cliff, thats if I can find a cliff in Derby :(

Got in tonight started fine as normal, drove for about 2 miles and it just stopped - engine cut out - didnt realise at first as I had the music so loud, my mechanic told me to do that because I kept complaining about all the funny noises and rattles - tried to start it and it turned over but did...

Why didnt I think of that....I have 2 horses and it never occured to me to use that - cheers :D

Having waited 6 weeks to get it back from the garage (long story) I can now finally get stuck into cleaning the inside. The seats are really grubby can anyone suggest anything I can use or am I better saving the money and getting it valeted properly

Or better still keep back £2000..... Choose your seller carefully even the nicest of people can be hiding something. Agree with everyone above take an expert or at least someone who knows a little. Finally good luck and happy hunting

Its got 111k on the clock but has been green laned - not that they told me that when I brought it but the ton of mud on top of the diff gave it away.

Well just to update everyone on here, Moneypit is now at Derbyshire Landrover and they have discovered she needs a new gearbox, old one leaking oil like a sieve, a new xyz switch - even though the first garage said there was nothing wrong with the existing one and finally a transfer box...

Anyone heard of these guys, offered the best price for a gearbox for my TD5 - justworried my headlights might get nicked whilst its up there, they are in Bradford!!:D

Got a quote of £!200 for a recon -fitted...... So going to book it in next week :D
