    4.0 V8

Hi, was the 4.0V8 in the 50th anniversary Defender the same as that in the P38? Was the gearbox the same?

    New Defender - anyone interested?

I also managed to do my first longish motorway drive that day. Around 250km there and 250km back. The car is incredibly quiet even at speeds of 150kph... I really mean quiet. I have never driven a car this quiet. You get some wind noise from the mirrors, but minimal engine or road noise and no...

    New Defender - anyone interested?

Quick follow up: Had a tyre change at the dealer, finally got rid of the Continental RXs, which were ****e. Now have Continental TS850 winter tyres which are the only winter tyres currently available in 255/65 R19. Pirelli do an all season Scorpion tyre but I wanted a dedicated winter tyre. I...

71.4% of you asked for it! living with an L663

I had an ex military Series 3 FFR 109 around five years ago but had to sell it as I needed the money at the time to fund my house build. It was very rare over here. It was a weekend car for me, I couldn't imagine living with it a a daily. There were many reasons for me buying the Defender. I...

71.4% of you asked for it! living with an L663

I haven't actually driven it much... we are in lockdown here in Slovakia at the moment. Passed my first 1000km milestone today! Here are some more pics from the day I collected it.

After the overwhelmingly positive response in my poll... here it is... living with an L663! I think you lot on here secretly love the new defender... just don´t want to admit it ;) Before I get started and so that I can show my credibility.... here is my 'proper' Defender!

Pile of ****e tyre on new Defender

Michelin and some other manufacturers tried a mesh style tyre. I remember reading about it, can't remeber why they weren't successful but there was a reas on.

Nope, I think that is the ladder in there?

    New Defender - anyone interested?

Is anyone interested in the new defender? I recently took delivery of mine, but I am quite aware that it didn´t receive great appraise on LZ. Mine has replaced a Discovery 4... I added BOB to the poll so it should be valid :)

Pile of ****e tyre on new Defender

Thanks, I may do a little write up later to let others know how I get on. I went with the lowest spec trim and then added stuff that I actually wanted such as the off-road pack. What I like about it the most is that it has coil springs (110 and not utility spec so I have 5 seats). That couldn´t...

Pile of ****e tyre on new Defender

If it didn´t have any flaws it wouldn´t be a Land Rover :)

Pile of ****e tyre on new Defender

Yes, the consensus on LZ wasn´t great but ah well. I don´t think it is overpriced, there are far worse and much less inspiring cars out there for similar or more money. It replaced by Discovery 4, which I loved, but couldn´t live with the unceratinty as to when or if the crank would break.

Pile of ****e tyre on new Defender

The Continental CrossContact RX 255/65 R19 is probably the worst tyre I have ever used! It is an absolute pile of ****e! It has zero sideways grip on even the mildest of muddy inclines and goes all over the place on muddy tracks... and I don't mean properly muddy, just a moist top surface. As...

    Factory ECU file

Hi everyone, Does anybody please have a factory ECU file for a TD5 90 model year 2000? Alternatively, please could you point me in the right direction? Any help would be much appreciated. my TD5 90 from 2000 failed its emissions test as the bloke that did my remap abour 4 years ago simply...

First Defender Viewing on Saturday (Check list)

If a TD5 check the oil level is correct... if too high could indicate a cracked head and diesel getting into the fuel. Make sure VIN matches model variant, age, engine type, check it hasn´t been ringed or stolen. But remember, it is a Defender and it will cost you money to keep right.

Buying my first Defender in the next month or so.

I would sell you my 2000 TD5 90 but it is blue, LHD and located in Slovakia.

Towing cars out of mud H/L diff locked or not

Whatever you do, make sure their wheels are being driven when pulling out of deep mud. I accidentally disengaged my central diff on my TD5 90 and although I gave the engine revs the drive shafts weren´t rotating. As I winched it out the hand brake drum dragged along the mud and bent the output...
