    cam shaft kit

Looks like a good kit, everything looks to be good quality brands. It's from v8tuner.co.uk who I've used before.

Owners of LPG models - Where's your ECU?

Mine is next to the battery in the bay and I still have room for the 1000CCA battery people on here recommend.

    high idle after driving

Sounds like something to do with the throttle position sensor. You need diagnostics to look at it's output though. You can also try cleaning the IAC (idle air control) valve.

    RAVE on mobile phone.

I've put the actual PDF files here: http://p38rr.com/files/RAVE/. They should work in any application that can read PDFs, no specific version required. They have index with them so you can navigate by section. For iPhone/iPad it's fairly simple. Make sure you have the Apple iBooks application...

    Starter problems

The starter eventually gave up with a loud bang and then it would only click. Took it out and the front case had smashed. I fitted a new one a week ago and it still had the same intermittent starting. Most of the time it would start and then half way through stop. Turning the key again would...

    Starter problems

I've been having some problems with my starter recently in my 1995 4.6 P38. Sometimes when trying to start it it would just make a single click sound as in a flat battery, if I held the key in position 3 after about 3 seconds the dash would dim and it would start. I could also just release the...

Main and Big End Bearing Replacement (GEMS V8).....

Yes that is where I got the passage about the idle not able to be changed from. I was meaning which part makes you think you can change the idle speed as maybe I'm missing something as I can't see a way to on mine.

Main and Big End Bearing Replacement (GEMS V8).....

Something along those lines. You'll have to drill into the tamper proof plug if someone else hasn't removed it yet. Where does it say that? There is no where to set it using my Nanocom. In the settings there is short term idle and long term idle setting but they are just the amount of...

Main and Big End Bearing Replacement (GEMS V8).....

As far as I remember Nanocom can't change the idle speed on a GEMS P38. I'm assuming you've already cleaned the IAC? If so I would probably change the idle bypass screw for now so it's not idling so low and causing the light to come on. Just make sure you mark it so you can return it to where it...

Main and Big End Bearing Replacement (GEMS V8).....

Yep, it's as simple as you say, as wammers said I would also give it a spin by hand just for piece of mind. I'd run it with the cover off first to see how much oil you're getting in there then you'll know if it actually was the rockers causing the drop in pressure. Here's a video of how much...

Main and Big End Bearing Replacement (GEMS V8).....

I would definitely check this, take the rocker covers off and run it and see how much oil you have in there. I replaced my rocker shafts and arms a while back with brand new ones and the clearances were so large that it caused the oil light to flicker at idle. I changed the rocker shafts/arms...

can i put a range rover gems 4.6 engine in a 4.0 thor

Yes providing you swap some stuff from the Bosch engine to the GEMS engine. You'll have to swap the plenum, camshaft gear/cam position sensor, flywheel, crank position sensor, knock sensors on the GEMS engine to the ones on the bosch engine. Probably a few other bits and pieces that I've forgot...

still wont start in the cold mornings

Sounds like exactly what I said in that case? By not starting it instantly the fuel pump has time to pressurize the rail.

still wont start in the cold mornings

Have you checked the fuel pressure in the morning before you turn the ignition on? I've seen similar on a Bosch engine where the check valve in the tank was bad and the fuel drained back into the tank overnight. An easier way to test might be to turn the key to ignition 2 wait for the fuel pump...
