Looks like the rimmer bro is a Britpart cam as the lobes are black like the one that's chewed up I've just replaced. I'd go with the one on the bay if you can identify where the cams from
 
Looks like a good kit, everything looks to be good quality brands. It's from v8tuner.co.uk who I've used before.
 
good heads up on the ****part cam il order the ebay one not in a rush to do the swop but im on 119k and have a slight cam tappet noise going on and it will need doing at some time.

shoulda done it when i did my valley gasket as its almost the same job :(

Black cams lobes are theoretically better, it means they have been Parkerised to guard against corrosion in storage and add a hard wear resistant coating to assit bedding in. Pre lubrication of cams and followers is very important, also how the cam is initialised on first startup. Or a new cam can be destroyewd in the first few minutes of operation. Main problem i find with cam kits is the poor quality of some of the supplied followers.
 
That's a britpart cam as mine came like that. The Land Rover cam cam with shiney lobes covered in a hard grease. Don't use them Two lobes totally flattened and another total strip down. Yes I did lube them and yes I sat for 10 mins at 2500 revs on startup
 
Right iv made up my mind I'm not going to swop out the cam the main reasons being

Iv been advised not to bother by a decent mechanic who has rebuilt loads of these he tells me the slight rattle for a second on start up is due to the cam shaft bearings being worn and oil leaking back past the journels That's an engine out job to do those he tells me even if I do the cam and all the other bits it will still rattle so best to leave it alone I do have a bad rocker that I'm going to replace when I get round to fitting my LPG kit
 
I'm having this discussion with myself at the moment. The HGs need doing, so I'm thinking of fitting a Kent H180 whilst I'm in there.
Not even sure it needs it, but at 112000 miles, I'm thinking it's probably about due, and I don't want to have to take it all apart again!
Still it's another £250 on top of everything else I need to buy. Bloody cars.

Yep its a tough one if you just do the hg its a simple job over a week end with lots of tea if that, doing the cam involves a lot more work but while your in there do you don't you. ????

Mines a bit different iv a couple of noisey tappets and for a while now a slight rattle on cold start for a second or 2 which has been put down to the camshaft bearings and I'm not taking the engine out for that so best left alone. The mechanic I asked was straight about it and said best keep my money.

Once the heads are off, it is just a case of front cover off, remove the radiator, a/c condensor, front grill, remove the push rods, cam followers and then remove the timing gear and slide the cam out through the front of the car....

It is a timing consuming job, but again once you have the vehicle timed to No.1 TDC, it is all nuts, bolts and gaskets.

Cam bearing shells are best done with engine out.
