    Oil cooler or head gasket?

Mine had the same problem, i had the head gasket replaced but the problem persisted. Loads of reading up later i discovered it was the oil cooler, doddle to fit in a couple of hours tops, remove the turbo and surrounding bits and it's a piece of cake.

    TD5 oil cooler fitting

Well I went in blind as no-one answered. For future reference if anyone needs to do this job, turbo off, oil filter and rotor filter housings off, oil cooler off, clean up all the oily gunk, then fit new oil cooler and everything else in reverse. Pretty easy job, couple of hours tops.

When i was looking to buy my disco i wanted a 300tdi, i must have looked at 20 for sale in different places and every one was rotten, for this reason i upped the budget and bought a TD5. TD5 not alive!

Exact thing happened to me last week after the head gasket was replaced on my disco, mine took ages to bleed and get running again but once it did it hasn't had a problem since, i initially thought i might have dragged some crud through from the bottom of the tank after it running dry but i'm...
