Today while running with the rocker cover off it fires a bit of oil up - looks like it's coming from around the pushrod holes is this normal? Cheers!

Thanks James, I'll get some and update any progress. Does it make a big difference if they are out a bit?

They seem to all move smoothly but I had to remove and strip half the rocker arm shaft and I have no feeler gauges at the mo to check the clearence.

It is rocker err1202 an exhaust valve rocker? If it is wound down too tight would it stop the exhaust valve sealing that cyl during combustion? And cause my problem? Sorry for the amuterish questions I'm on a steep learning curve!!!

Iv just unscrewed the adjuster screw out a bit and it seems to run a better! It really did sound rough before. I am unable to test it properly at the mo - I'll start again iv got tommorow off work and the neighbours need a break from my banging and revving!

Hi this is the old one..... A is the new one..... The part where the adjuster screw is a lot shallower than the new one but the part no. Is the same.

I'm pretty certain the timing belt and timing are spot on but it's running really rough now! I'm not sure what the problem will be. The cam sliders looked fine I'm just a bit suspect of the replacement rocker arm been a lot shallower.

Well like an idiot iv made a verry stupid and embarrassing mistake. My head was a mess due to been on nights and waking up mid day and started to Finnish my repairs. I put the timing pin into the injector pump to adjust it slightly and then forgot to take it out when I went to start it. Gutted...

Wanted in Leeds a decent 200 tdi injector pump for a discovery 200 tdi engine. If anyone has one for sale or knows where one is for sale I'd love to know. Cheers Tom.

Surely a tighter belt could have put the timing out?

Mine is a disco 200 tdi iv just checked the part no on this belt and it says says ETC550 too but is marked dayco. The other belt had no markings on it at all but the packet had the same part no. On.

Thanks for your suggestions, the woodruff key looked perfect and iv got to learn to check valve clearences now.

I have just finnished fitting the new timing belt kit - I got a dayco kit. It's fitted now and is longer than the crappy unbranded thing I was sent as it slipped on without any tightness while putting the tensioner onto its peg. What the hell belt this was I don't know but the quality difference...

I was thinking that too, but the pulleys are all free spinning. I'll fit a new dayco kit and hope for the best! Could a pulley momenteraly lock up? I do remember struggling to get the stub that goes into the tensioner in as the belt was very tight and to be honest on its loosest setting...

Tourqe wrench I can't remember what mesurement but I got the setting from the internet.

Very true, Lesson to everyone - buy the best belt you can! I Diddnt have much choice as I needed to be on the road. I hope thats all it is that caused it. Has it been known to happen before with cheap belts?

Hi guys the tyres are 205 80 16. The diffs are all the old 10 spline ones. I don't think I'll change the transfer box I'm happy cruising at 50 with the stereo turned up lol. I'm looking at caravans so it may come in handy for towing that?
