As I put in a earlier post you need a 4.6 box with last 3 numbers on serial plate 065 not the 061 as its longer..) its just a case of using diesel bell housing and torque converter and that info is from dave ashcroft 3 days ago (ashcroft transmission) simples :)

Should have a word with langley, his dse is chipped with uprated intercooler and boost wound up,i'm sure its langley? He also has the 4.6 box but he also has a modded torqe converter...I only want a bit extra poke for towing and the 4.6 box will just simply cope better with the extra load/strain

Yes no probs, but its been done by a few now with good feedback..

My 1998 DSE running on a PSI power box, its done nearly 177k and used for towing our tourer in summer months, auto gearbox starting to show signs of clutch/valve block probs but still going strong for now..the 4.6 v8 box will fit as long as you get the later 1 with the last 3 digits on serial...

Mine does it too Nik,2 go's on plugs and starts 1st turn! I've done glow plugs (Delphi) leak off pipes,seals in filter housing and in tank pump and ecu temp sensor and still the same (could be relay/timer) but if I have 1 go with plugs and leave it for a coupe of extra seconds when light go's...

Ill keep an eye on this post as I'm having same trouble with my 98 dse. New rad and water pump 11 months ago and just replaced viscous fan with gen LR and thermostat and still temp went up to just before the red when towing up hill I was also thinking of removing condenser as nothing in it and...

Took it for m.o.t and passed with no advisory! Not bad for a 1998 with 169k me thinks :)

new oil cooler and pipework fitted! changed oil and fitted the new psi power box. all ready for the weekend to tow the caravan now :D

replaced O rings in fuel filter housing and ordered my new engine oil cooler and pipes and a new psi power box for towing :D there go's my gearbox :)
