    Engine mapping etc

You shouldn't have aproblem with that weight 'van but a remap / tuning box can only help. I've got a Rover Ron box on mine. As for tacos then I prefer the El Paso ones :) And since when did FL's have a centre diff??? Allan

    Landrover Freelander TD4 2004/54

Have a look at the LH (nearside) engine mount. It is a pig to get at but the bolt had come nearly completely out on mine. Allan

    Tailgate probs

Take the trim off the rear door and check the cables. I think you'll find the whirring was the motor winding what's left of the cable end back round the plastic drum. Allan Doh! beaten to the post by Chaser

    Freelander Tailgate Regulator

Here's one of many threads. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/repair-tail-door-window-regulator-67657.html#post650227 There is a spring tensioner in the set up which needs setting and releasing after you've wound the cable onto the drum. For some temporary security and seeing as you are...

Freelander HDC in snow and ice

Have to disagree. My recent experience of the HDC in snow has been very favourable. The HDC doesn't know whether it's on snow or mud. Having slid downhill with all four wheels locked, the ABS presumably thinking the vehicle had stopped, I can say that HDC gave a much more controlled descent. Allan

Aux drive belt change - jack up?

As Ming says a pig of a job. Go in through the RH wheel arch. The tensioner is very strong I ended up with a jack under the end of an extension bar to rotate it enough to get the belt over the pulley. After a couple of attempts to do it by muscle power I ran out of torque in my arm. Allan

Ditto for the 3 door. Mine used to leak when it rained and then filled the shallow tray on the centre console. Allan

    Clutch/gear selection

I'd say it was the master cylinder on the way out. The seals seem to let fluid past somehow with no obvious leaks to outside. This is also the cheapest and easiest item to start changing in pursuit of a solution. Just over £100 and reasonably easy to change. The new cylinder comes prefilled with...

Changing TD4 fuel filter (later type)

Changed the fuel filter today using Pepe's tips with a few amendments. The electrical connector was a pig to disconnect and I ended up with the retainer clip snapped. I don't think this will matter. The earth wire broke as it was removed. When the assembly was on the the bench some further...

    Freelander fuel pump

Have you got access to Rave that covers the later than 2003 models the only ones I've found have been the earlier ones. I have a 2005 TD4 and it only has a single pump in the RH wheelarch. It's just a sender unit in the tank. Allan

    Fitting Spotlamp Pod Kit

Fitting the kit is straightforward if a little time consuming. Just follow the instructions to the picture and you shouldn't go far wrong. It is not worth using any existing fog lamp wiring as they will only come on with dip and the spot lights need to come on with main. All you need for the...
