My TD4 clutch needs to touch the carpet before a smooth change can be made - worst offender is 1st and getting it into reverse. Changes fine but it has to be hard on the floor. No slipping, noises coming from clutch etc, so not sure if plate needs renewed or not. It's had a quick bleed through but no improvement.

Any ideas, folks?

thanks

I'd say it was the master cylinder on the way out. The seals seem to let fluid past somehow with no obvious leaks to outside. This is also the cheapest and easiest item to start changing in pursuit of a solution. Just over £100 and reasonably easy to change. The new cylinder comes prefilled with fluid but you may still need to bleed the system if the self sealing coupling didn't shut quick enough when you dismantled it.
