    Brakes grinding noise again

A while back we had a similar problem, soon after changing brake pads. We had a new set of oem pads and on and so we assumed they were the culprits. a few weeks later, we picked up a set of genuine parts brake pads and went to swap 'em over. I noticed two things - firstly they were absolutely...

... They have the same engine, of course... Cheers Blippie

12v socket / cigar lighter problem

Tried a search ... proof! Just noticed that the cigar lighter in the "between the front seats console" isn't working. I've checked the front 12v socket which is ok, and the fuse, no 10 in the glovebox fuse compartment which is ok. Is the rear 12v socket fused somewhere else? Or do...

    Does anyone actually use HDC?

The speed is set at the supposed stalling speed for the engine. If it was set sower then the engine would stall. However, you can still use a little bit of brake in extreme circumstances. Have used HDC extensively off road in the Camel, a few times offroad in the TD4 (including towing) and on...

    rear droan

Use HS because thry are OEM I think... but theY shouldn't be hugely expensive... Cheers Blippie

    transfer box problem

New VCU bearings cost less than twenty quid so don't really come into the equation. Big choice to be made, though! Cheers Blippie

    Freelander ES X front bumper

If you drive around with these lights on you will get pulled for dazzling other road users. They are spotlamps designed to work with the main beams, not dipped headlamps. Cheers Blippie

    T D 4 will not start

The TD4 is self priming. The press button switch you refer to might be the fuel cut off switch which activates in a crash. Cheers Blippie

    freelander towing weight

No, the reason for the 1,800kg is that you can exceed the gross train weight, the actual max towing weight is 2,000kg. Cheers Blippie

    remote heater

Is there an echo in here? That's the downloads webpage I linked too in my post on the first page of this topic.... Glad it's coming in handy, though! Cheers Blippie

    what colour?

It doesn't look like Icelandic Blue, Oslo Blue or Cairns Blue. I think Atlantic Blue was the 50th SE colour. It's not that. Might it be Buckingham Blue, Montecarlo Blue, Oxford Blue, Caledonian Blue, Cobar Blue, Helsinki Blue...? Or Appalachian Green? Charleston Green? Sahara dust?

    freelander virgin

Graham, there's plenty of threads on Mondo mode, no need to start a new one. As for the original topic, the TD4 is a good towcar. If you do a lot of slow speed manoeuvering with the tin tent then you might want to consider the auto. There is no low box so you will soon develop good clutch...

    Grab handle

LOL, my wife uses the "Jesus handle" when I'm driving off road. So called because she clings to it and shouts..... On a serious note, if you want the handles from over the doors, I've got a spare set lying around. Yours for a fiver towards club funds. Cheers Blippie

FREELANDER: Equally bad to other 4x4'S.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.... Our TD4 is the most reliable car we have ever had. And the Freelander is suprisingly capable off road. ...But I don't know about the easier to park than a Discovery as they are pretty much the same size. Cheers Blippie

    cheap cv joints

Might be ok, but what is "OE spec" supposed to be? It's either OE or it isn't! Offroading the Camel eats CV joints but IME its usually due to the boot being damaged and letting crud in rather than manufactering defects so I regularly check the CV boots for holes. Cheers Blippie

    confused light search

You can still pick these up on the Internet. You need to decide what sort of kit you want- the spots mounted on a bracket coming from the grille, the fog lamps fitted on the bumper, or the spots in pods either side of the numberplate. Then Google will have your answer... Cheers Blippie

    rear window problem

Because of the disconection, the car can't work out if the window is up or down or what. Like Sconner says there is a thread sonwhere which explains how to calibrate the window. Cheers Blippie

Ah, dodgy VCU on the Suburu? Shouldn't be a problem on the Freelander. Gulp. Cheers Blippie
