    Freelander XE - Novice

Knocking could be VCU mounts, though usually a thump when engaging the clutch too, or the rear diff mounts, which is a cheap fix. Loads of solutions to the three amigos, the wiring to the gearknob switch under the gaitor is another quick check. Cheers Blippie

    Really annoying grinding noise

The windscreen wiper linkages are all under the plastic scuttle escutcheon at the base of the windscreen. Haynes manual gives you a good talk through to get to them. You might want to get some new plastic rivits but they cost pence to replace. Cheers Blippie

    Drums/shoes

You haven't put your location in your profile so we cant recommend local places.... But I've used LRSeries too. One of thx few websites that give you an easy comparison between genuine, original quality and cheapo pattern parts and the postage is fair too. Cheers Blippie

    Freelander MOT? Easy!!

Our TD4 nearing 100,000miles was MoT-ed at the end of last month and just needed the orange indicator bulbs changing as some of them were a little white. It had new fuel pumps last year (its only breakdown), and a new windscreen wiper linkage at 80,000miles and a new rear diff mount (£15) at...

    Fuel mpg

Our 02 plate TD4 does mid thirties for mixed journies, 40 on a run, so you ought to get 30mpg. Something to consider is that on the two settings that clear the windscreen, the heater is suplimented by the aircon. This speeds up delisting but also increases fuel consumption on short journies...

    remote heater

And it's not a remote starter, it's an upgrade that is a remote control that starts the FBH and the blower so if defrosts your car. I've got the upgrade on the Camel .... You can download the LR and Webasto details by going to Index of /downloads Cheers Blippie

    all terrain tyre pressure?

Can't speak for General. BFG ATs seem to do well with 4 to 6 psi extra for road use. Cheers Blippie

what's my freelander trying to tell me?

I was so tempted to say, "it's telling you to read the manual," but I am far to polite snd civilised to say such a thing! When we got our first Freelander it was our first brand new car ever and as a result I reac the manual back to front over and over again. There were passages I could quote...

Newbie with a couple of questions

The RAVE is indeed a useful manual. Go to LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum and search for RAVE for more details. Land Rover Series Website is a good supplier IMO, I use them to supplimemt my local LR factor and local LR franchised dealer. Cheers Blippie

    Light bar wiring

Two options rather than drilling new holes... 1... the aerial. Remove this and there is a gap that is accesible from the other side via the interior courtesy lamp assembly. 2... the roof rail fixing points. There are two threaded holes at each point so even if you have the rails or z roof...

    Considering TD4 Sport??

I don't really know what that means, but what I do know is that the 2002 TD4 with just under 100,000miles on the clock that we have had from new has been the most reliable car we have ever had. The early models of Freelander have a bad reputation and the 1.8petrol is best left alone for all...

    Abmulance conversion?

You'll need to get rid of the red cross otherwise you will be in contravention of the Geneva Convention Act 1957. I'm a dead hit at parties... Cheers Blippie
