    TD4 2005 Auto turbo removal

Good evening, Yes I did it last Saturday. I had a bit of a job undoing the oil return hose jubilee as I couldn't get a socket on but persevered with a spanner. I found the 4 bolts through the air filter quite easy and the exhaust bolts were mercifully quite easy. The whole lump dropped out...

    TD4 2005 Auto turbo removal

Good evening all, Just on with swapping my turbo, all going ok but struggling to remove the oil return pipe off the turbo. Most seem to leave this and simply undo the jubilee clip where the rubber pipe joins the metal pipe but i just cant see it. very tight on space. would it make any...

Harmon Kardon swap to basic spec

Morning Folks. I have two 2005 F1 TD4s. One is a basic spec with 110k on the clock, the other a HSE with150k. HSE needs turbo replacing which I'm going to do. I want to keep the basic spec lower mileage but swap over some of the extras from the HSE like fog lights, roof bars, heated leather...

Full clean of intercooler now it wont start !!

Defo smells of burning oil and only happens when turbo kicks in, also presence of oil in turbo pipes is pointing me towards turbo. I can sit and rev it whilst stationary and no smoke. When I stripped and cleaned the injectors I replaced the copper crush washers and O rings, also replaced O rings...

Full clean of intercooler now it wont start !!

Its more grey and stinjs of burning oil. Revving when stationary no smoke, take it for a drive, foot down, turbo spools up and masses of grey smoke, so its my bets the turbo seals have gone after previous owner neglected crank case breather.

Full clean of intercooler now it wont start !!

Thanks Nodge & Paul99. Sorted (in a fashion) Interior lights fuse had blown, replaced this which gave power back to OBD port. Continually cranked car and then she fired up, runs lovely until I put my foot down and back to billowing white smoke so I suspect the turbo has blown oil seals. Going to...

Full clean of intercooler now it wont start !!

Evening folks. Having recently saved a 2005 TD4 F1 from the scrappers, diagnosed what was causing all the white smoke (with the help of Nodge and others) as being a blocked CC breather. So cleaned the air intake manifold (horrendously dirty job, I was warned) also took off the hoses, removing...

Inlet manifold - best way to de gunk ?

Evening folks, Just de oiling my air intake system after having bought a F1 2005 with a fossilized breather filter. Taken air inlet manifold off and currently leaving it over night in engine gunk remover. Noticed the intakes on the block are well fouled up. Whats the best way to clean them? bit...

    Smoky turbo or not

So after taking Nodge's advice, I pulled the turbo hose (the rubber section that comes off the turbo) put the open end in an old cardboard box and revved the hell out of it. To my relief, not a hint of oil confirming turbo is ok and the trouble is residual oil dumped into the system via the...

    Smoky turbo or not

Thanks for that, i will give it a go, however as the turbo pipes and intercooler are already oiled up, my guess is that this oil already present would cover the paper towel
