    P38A ECU readers

I've got a 2.5 BMW diesel P38. Think its time to get an ECU reader, there is a confusing amount of info on which one to get. I'm chasing an intermittent air suspension fault atm but looking for a unit that does it all. I've lived with the air suspension system for about 11 years now and...

    P38 2.5 Diesel Tune up

Just to finish this off, after much fiddling around and trying different things, the two items that made a huge difference were: Replacing the rubber joints on the intercooler/turbo which had gone like bubble gum. Fitting a brand new #4 injector Runs like new, sounds different and has a very...

OK so in conclusion a bit of engine set up might be a better investment.

    P38 2.5 Diesel Tune up

Think it came from ebay. It fits a whole load of cars. The impeller vanes appeared to have a bigger surface area than the old one. Its been working fine, the temperature gauge never goes over its normal range. With the old one it would go up to 3/4 in traffic when it was hot.

    P38 2.5 Diesel Tune up

The engine is fine. Its done a lot less than the car. Before I fitted it I took a look inside at the general build up of crud and the block was clean as a whistle which suggested the guy I bought it from was telling the truth when it was from a low mileage vehicle. The old engine by comparison...

    Diesel injector needed

I'm looking to buy a replacement injector for my 2.5 DSE. Its the one with the wire and a brown plug. I've seen one on ebay but the wire doesn't look great - mine had wires exposed where it goes in the metal and was putting the fault light on. Runs OK without the sensor but fixing all the...

    P38 2.5 Diesel Tune up

I'm sure this has been done to death already, so sorry in advance if this is a repetitious post. I'm looking to improve my 2.5 DSE's performance and am considering a plug in box to do this. Mine has a manual gearbox if this makes any difference. I don't want to have issues with the engine...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Just used the stuff Martin trim sent, I figured its best to listen to what they say and follow their advice. I asked them to send me everything I'd need to do the job. I spent quite a bit of time watching on line videos of pros doing the job, watching for little tricks and techniques. The clean...

Changed the interior lights for LEDs too, the warm white type, not that harsh blue light.

    Seat Exchange?

I fitted the electric seats out of a later V8 with SBS to my manual 2.5 DSE. Just left the yellow wires disconnected. Took the wiring loom rom the V8, plugged it all in to mine and off it went. Only issue was the mirrors went crazy, resetting their position and dipping when reversing - which was...

    Its for my diesel P38

    Hawkeye/faultmate

Is the Hawkeye any good? I looked at a fault mate and they are so expensive plus they are locked down to not only one VIN but even the ECUs fitted to that vehicle. The more I looked at the faultmate the more it seems like a bad investment as every change you make you have to pay for a new...

    P38 diesel hot running problem

Maybe this was why the car the engine came from got scraped! I'm going to get the diagnostic box as its just useful to have with these vehicles. Who would you suggest to do a good overhaul? I still have the old pump from the engine we took out - should I fit that?

    P38 diesel hot running problem

If it were a lift pump surely it would do it all the time, not just when its hot. Also it had nearly a full tank of fuel. When I get it back from my wife the fuel light is always on (thats another fault i can't seem to fix) and its exactly the same - great when cold, messes about hot

    P38 diesel hot running problem

I rebuilt my P38 after the engine blew up. I had help from a local truck mechanic, he took one look at the broken up water pump and recommended I look for a new engine. Which I did and we fitted it. Its done 100,0000 fewer than the old engine and runs really sweet, most of the time! Just...

    P38 Problems

There's two stonking great electric fans fitted .......they wouldn't have helped if the gasket has blown, but they would greatly help reduce the thermal load and I was wondering why they sat there doing nothing most of the time......I'd rather replace alternators that have worked too hard...
