Mr Noisey used a sheet of chequerplate, which I think I might copy. A lot cheaper. If you want to go authentic, I think the only one to avoid is britpart, apparently they are a little on the thin side.

I'd just get it done now, if the tin worm has set it it will only get worse, you may as well fix it and know its not going to bite you in the ass. I'd check under those wheelarch covers also, the floor sides might need doing also if its bad

Can you buy a disco 1 galv chassis? I know Richards chassis do one for the disco 2, but are they the same?

I'm sure you probably could, but it will be noisy. I'd probably strip out the headlining and remove all the foam / cloth and then paint, or coat. Trim is fairly easy to loose, on the doors you could just replace with chequer plate or wood. Dash could be a bit more tricky with it holding all...

I think mine has a very thin layer of silver paint on it, plus some thick black paint around the towbar area

I'd rather spend the cash now than when the chassis is completely rotten, or have to do the boot again.
