Hey,

Just pulled back the carpets to give the Disco a quick hover and ended up poking the flippin nozel right though a rust patch in the top right hand corner (looking from the back of the car). Wondered if there were any quick remedies or will it have to be a full panel replacement? The hole is on the boot panel but its right next to where it joins up to the next panel (under the back seats). Will upload some photos soon as!

Ben

hard to say without looking at pictures, you may be able to patch it.

All depends on how bad it is as to whether its just gonna be a bodge patching.

use silicon sealant...

Least that's what the previous owner to mine did... and he got an MOT on it! (along with it missing sills, rear cross member, seat belt bits in the back, no fogs, well, the list goes on... maybe that says more about the mot station than the use of silicon sealant in replacement for metal.)

heres some pictures of the offending cancer..

whats the diagnosis?

Ben

I'd just get it done now, if the tin worm has set it it will only get worse, you may as well fix it and know its not going to bite you in the ass.

I'd check under those wheelarch covers also, the floor sides might need doing also if its bad

In the second picture that dark suspect worm looking thing is in fact a hole. i can see my drive through the it

i would just scrape all the crap off weld plates where appropiate and paint with some hammerite or simular and worry about it next year
;)

Right then, plan for tomorrow is to see what i'm really dealing with. get the back seats out and cover the drive in rust :D

Good job i'm off untill the 6th now!

I would in a new boot floor now, whilst the side panels are not too ****ed.

A boot floor panel is about £50 plus anything else you need, once the old floor is out.

Buy a spot-weld remover drill bit and drill out the welds, then you can lift out the panel.

Does anyone know where i can purchase a decent/cheap boot floor panel? Quick search on ebay is saying 65quid inc p&p don't really know if this is a decent price though. Cheers for the advice though guys.

Mr Noisey used a sheet of chequerplate, which I think I might copy. A lot cheaper.

If you want to go authentic, I think the only one to avoid is britpart, apparently they are a little on the thin side.
