300tdi rear oil seal plastic insert

After a great oil leak from the rear oil seal I went to Landrover and bought a gen part but it didnt come with the plastic insert to guide it over the crank. I did try but just ended in a knackered oil seal. So went and ordered another and asked about the guide and was told Landrover now use a...

Well spotted. I put that cap on as the right sized caps shattered when it came apart. I have took a measurement between the circlip recesses on the prop and still getting the same.

I wanted to change all 4 of the uj's on my props but the rear seem to be the std size 75mm (rtc 3458) but the front prop is larger about 95mm ish. Oil seal help please.

After a complete rebuild of my 90 Defender onto a galvie chassis the only thing to go wrong so far are the oil seals on the diffs and transfer box. I have been trying to find the correct part numbers and so far I have come up with FTC 5258 for the diffs and FTC 4939 for both the front and rear...

    Best 300tdi shells?

Hi all, not been around for a while due to ill health but started to rebuild my tdi defender at last. I'm saving the cash for a Galved chassis but have stripped the engine so it can be fresh when it goes back in. All looks very good and clean but I may as well change the mains and big ends and...

Bit out of focus but you can just see three points on the bolt hitting the clutch, so no room for a socket.

    Clutch bolts help

No because the clutch plate tapers out theres no room for it to go on. I did try and tap a spanner onto the bolt and a socket but they just wouldnt go. Next option would be that I weld a new bolt head onto the old ones in the clutch / flywheel and once out fit hex ones as you said before. This...

Tried a spanner and even a brake line spanner but cant get even that on. If I try and use the open end on a spanner it just spins of as the bolts are so tight and lack of grip.

    Clutch bolts help

Started to strip my defender 300tdi engine down ready for rebuild and I cant seem to get anything onto the clutch bolts. I can see there 14mm but do I have to grind down the outer side walls of a socket to get it to fit as it wont go onto the bolts because of the clutch plate. Ta guys, Mark.
