    Main fuel filter probs

G'day chaps, need a quick response please if anyone is out there today....and er...I live in S W France. Yesterday I noticed a damp patch (ok ok....leave out the funnies!) when I moved the Disco (Y2K TD5) and yes, being at the rear offside had to be the fuel filter slowly dripping. Looked in the...

    insurance prices

Try any local farmers insurance company. I was with N/Union for years as the cheapest then they upped the premiums quite a bit so I shopped about again. Found Devon and Cornwall Farmers Insurance was a lot cheaper and really good when making a claim. Riggy.

My Disco is *&$? *ing overheating

I'm not a Disco techi like most on here but I had a similar problem a short while back. Check your auxilliary drive belt for tension and wear. I had three days of overheating....guage in the red very quickly but couldn't find the problem......did a high speed trip to the airport on one occasion...

    trouble when starting sometimes.....?

I have experienced this on different cars over the years....No. 1 from Stckybackbob is good, as is No.2 but on No. 2 my take on it (in addition to Stickybob) is that as the key and barrel are getting worn they deposit fine metal filings in the barrel gumming up the works and I have cured this on...

"Stranded in France" of last week...similar tale....

My first big faux pas was luckily in a local friendly restaurant around here. When first here and staying on the Lot/Dordogne border, I learned the expression 'a plein' when filling up at the garage.........I used the same expression in my local restaurant after a very large meal when...

Here is a list (some duplicated) which I have copied from another forum I frequent. I don't know how to put it in a link but some of it may be of help to some poor unfortunate (like myself) on here, either living or travelling in French speaking countries. Riggy. I have run out of petrol...

Thanks to all on here (special thanks to some snotty-nosed guy breathing whiskey fumes down the phone) .......this morning Jason2 intervened on my behalf by phone and not only ratified what I had already translated from the garage owner, but TOTALLY clarified the rest of the situation and...

Thanks for the exploded view...much clearer now. Yes definitely the tensioner pully that won't come off the spline. Hoping today to have some French speaking help to ensure the tensioner and idler pulley are changed as well as anything else (viscous fan I think as it wobbles). I don't usually...

Isn't the alternator on the TD5 (from memory) mounted down and to the left of engine....well below pulley wheels. Yes, you are right, all the auxilliaries are driven off the crank pulley.....the crank itself being chain driven. Riggy.

Thanks cipx2, the layout of your diagram is nearly correct, except it doesn't go round the crank pulley. Top left pulley is correct and the 'grippe' as you say (and I have since deciphered) is that the pulley is siezed (or really difficult to get off) on the shaft....the wheel itself as with...

I didn't say I was stranded in France, I said I was in a similar predicament to the guy last week who said he was....but he was having trouble with a L/R dealer, as I am now. That is.....communication problems/possibility of being ripped off through lack of technical communication skills in...
