regards fenman

try ringing paddocks up? you never know, there could have always been a mistake made somewhere along the line

i take it its a 36IV and you brought a 36IV repair kit, so there shouldn't be a problem. best bet is to give them a call imo

I think there are two sizes of screw, depending on the age of the carb. If the old needle isn't too scored or pitted you can reuse it if the supplied o-ring fits.

well im gonna have to reuse the old one for the time being but yeah its really badly worn so deffo needs replaceing, as for o ring theres no o ring, the mixture screw on mine just consists of a screw with a small spring it goes through, Ive rang paddocs and there going to look into it, but I dont hold much hope of getting a phone call back...

Yep, Ive got the same prob, mixture screw is incorrect thread, and gaskets are not stamped very well.

I rang up paddocs and they said they had never herd of this problem before, and were full of promises that they were going to contact land rover and get me the propper mixture screw, but they never called me back, and I chased em up a couple of times, still more promises of calling me back but still havent herd anything, so Ive given up and left the old screw in place, which annoyingly was the most worn part of the lot  please let me know tho if you find the corect screw and where I can get one from...

whats that? customers who live in the real world and understand that the people at padocs have bigger fish to fry than takeing the time to find me a poxy mixture screw, so just quitely go away....

nope, customers that will believe anything they are told

when I bought me carb rebuild kit for me series I had bits missing and the wrong parts supplied...like you they said they'd contact all sorts of people to sort it out......think that was about a year ago.......

the thing thats starting to get me is, its starting to become clear that this worng parts thingy in the rebuild kit is quite common, so when I came on here and asked for advice on rebuilding my carb and was told paddocs was the place to order one from, no one said a word about it...

maybe, just maybe it's got something to do with peeps ordering the wrong kit ? - as mentioned (but ignored) above ?

your right, I was told to make sure I ordered the correct kit, so when I phoned I made sure to tell him them the exact carb I had, and he confirmed, this is the kit you need, its not totaly the wrong kit, its just not quite right, a few of the gaskets are wrong and the mixture screw is the wrong thred its not fine enough, its more of a general zenith carb rebuild kit, not a specific zenith model kit....

I didn't get mine from paddok but it sounds the same kit. Its the right kit with a load of useless washers to make it look comprehensive. Its really poor quality, the compensator gaskets dont fit at all so I did some surgery on them with First aid kit scissors and I got to use one of them.

I wonder if the jets are any good? The main body gasket is not stamped well as theres quite a few holes only partially exposed. They supply one size of mixture screw but what about the more common other?

Does anyone know where to get good brands of carb repair kits? Mines branded Bearmach who make some good parts but the carb kit is atrocious and a waste of money because its not useable.

I'm still waiting for Craddocks to send me my order of stuff placed last week and for which they took my money but their system still says 'not yet sent'. No replies to my comms.

Service in the UK is CRAP !
