Well whatever then, give it Wurth for starters and then batter it all in Schutz for good stone chip protection. That fecker'll last!

Thanks matey, I was thinking of using red oxide primer but I imagine something like Wurth will be a lot better?

ye red oxide is now dead and gone due to law. the wurth stuff comes in 1litre tins and brushs on ,or sprays on , its top stuff, i coated my rear arms months ago in it , and guess what no rust.:) mmm its around 25 quid a tin but it goes along way, and its well worth it , get it worth it :D

mate sorry to correct you red lead is dead red oxide you can still buy gliddens and petrmoglaze both still sell red oxide and blackfriars and international do the smaller size tins.

we should have a bit on the site telling people to use it , it may save a few more landys if everyone new about it.

So would I be right in saying something like kurust first then worth? Do I need something like schutz over wurth or is wuth the last layer?

wouldnt bother with the kurerust stuff you would need far to much of it, get some wurth rust stop primer , give everthing a dam good coat , then hammer it all in hows ya farther.;)

I've used Bonda primer on mine, sounds pretty similar to the Wurth stuff?
hammer and chisel, wire brush, flap wheel, whatever you can to get as much rust off as possible. Coat it with a high Zinc content primer (Wurth/Bonda/???) and your choice of Schutz I use the "underbody shield with waxoyl". It works for me and I've been messing around with old bangers for a very long time.

Modern anti rust primers based on Zinc are just about getting back to the efficacy that lead based primers were before they were banned.

So the outside I'll use a the rust proofing primer then something like schutz or waxoyl, but what about the inside? The primer stuff but then I'm unsure what to put on top of that.

coat all your metalwork inside and outside in wurth ruststop. inside you can even schutz that if its not seen . :)

So the plot thickens today.....

That's not too bad at all.

All panels are readily available and the odd small hole is easily plated. A couple of weekends and you'll be done.
