hi all, i'm having yet more problems with my v8 discovery. After fitting a new module on the side of the dizzy and getting it running again i've done around 60 miles until yesterday when it cut out again while driving and wont restart. i went round a couple of roundabouts where i could hear a strange noise i carried straight on and it just cut out. its getting a spark as it's trying to start on easy start and i can hear the fuel pump in the back whirring away, but its not even trying like its getting no fuel< it has fuel in it. im not sure if its related but recently its started to bog down round corners but been ok as soon as you straighten up except if you floor it down through kick down where it would kangaroo a bit< it had stopped doing this though after i put a full tank of fuel in the other day, any help much appreciated as it's getting a bit to much now after nearly a year of fault free driving its broken down twice in two week. awebb, it's good you've tried the easy start to find if its ignition or injection. So its not getting fuel.

I would put a pressure gauge on the fuel line and see what pressure is in the rail. If its not the correct value then I would hazard a guess that your fuel pump has gone wobbly. Might explain the not working correctly when going round corners and working again when it has a full tank... ?

awebb, as Dr_Evil said, in the engine bay at the plenum/ram housing area where the fuel line is. If it was 3.5 flapper then the easiest way would be to remove from the cold start injectors... but there isn't one on hotwire!

So if you remove a fuel line, either direct from the pump or from the return pipe...

Don't forget to put out your cigar before you crack open any joins... And keep some rags handy as well & place underneath where you're undoing. ;)
 
Have you, or anyone else, changed the fuel pump in it at any point?

I ask because on some after market pumps, the pick ups in them are sometimes a little shorter than the originals and cause a fuel starvation issue when going around corners.
The issue doesn't seem to manifest itself much, if at all, when the tank is more than half full.

Also, it could indicate that the pump itself is having an issue.
Sometimes they will randomly lock up before going altogether.

Get yourself a Haynes Manual, the step by step info is in there and there's pictures :)
 
Fitted a fuel pump, its still just spinning over, any ideas as to what else it may be? Could I need a fuel filter? I don't need to bleed the fuel system or anything after fitting the pump do I? At my witts end with it now, any help much appreciated, Andy
