Why won't we insure you? I assume they've given you a reason opposed to just telling you and leaving it at that...

Coz my beast has got bench seats in the back and therefore has too many seats - unfortunately being a middle aged mother of 5 and a nurse and having driven for 27 years without an claim or accident doesn't cancel out that risk apparantly

Can you PM me your surname and postcode, I want to look into this a bit more...

Fire across your surname and postocde to me via a PM and I'll pass the details to the correct department telling them it was only an enquiry. Try and get this all sorted for you without having to call us.

Cheers,

Ed

Called before i saw your reply and sorted it.

A question squire,

For many years I've been able to enjoy having the ability to drive someone else's vehicle on third party with my comprehensive coverage. Yet with AF I'm told I am too young to qualify (at the time of the policy I was 26). How, by getting older am I too young to enjoy a luxury I had access to for about 3 years previously (although with different insurers)?

How far have AF moved the goal posts for me to be entitled to such a luxury with your company?

Bix Flux did not move the goal posts......... They are brokers for 30+ insurance companys. They do not set the rules they follow the rules for who they work for.
There was a major over haul in the insurance industry last year, some brought on By rulings from the EU. But most changes were caused by scamers of insurance fraud and young drivers driving like stupid fook wits. (not saying you are) But us old dodgers still enjoy lower rates because we are safer drivers

I've used 4 brokers being a yooff and all. The first (AutoVan or something similar) wouldn't touch me for 3rd party cover on another motor, because I was under 25 and it was commercial insurance. Fair enough. Post Office would, as by this point I was now over 25, but still commercial insurance. Tesco would, by this point I'd switched to domestic insurance (sold the van, got a RR, plus now I do thousands of miles for the company I work for). AF tell me I'm not old enough for the luxury. It just seems strange that by getting older I'm deemed to young to continue using a feature I've had in the past.

It'd be nice to know where the goal posts are to get back the ability to drive a friends car and be insured for it. Although the only reason I don't drive like a stupid fookwit is I can't afford to lose my licence.

Bix,

For you to be told by us that you are too young for it, in short, that is wrong.

The reason it won't be on your policy is purely because the scheme you have been placed on is underwritten in a way that doesn't allow this to be the case.

Again, apologies for being misinformed perviously.

Cheers,

Ed

Ah, that makes more sense.

Ta muchly. A slight punch in the feet, but oh well. Maybe this year I can see about getting it back. It is amazing how much you miss such a feature when you no longer have it.

Ask them for it when you call up about your renewal, as has already been said, we work with a multitude of comapnies and have over 250 schemes you can be placed on, admittedly not all are available for renewal business.

Just a heads up though, if you work in the motor trade, you would be unable to get this benefit.

Cheers

Ed

Would like to say thanks to Ed for getting back to me and clarifying why Flux won't cover me . :)

If anything it's even more incomprehensible that the reason I initially thought - because I need business use to drive to a couple of meetings a month a work , they won't do a 12 seater on that policy ..... I don't mind decisions based on risk but that's just bonkers ..... I can drive up and down the motorway 200 miles a day to & from home to one place of work but if I have to go to another office 5 miles away twice a month that's more risky apparantly  ( I don't comute that far each day btw- twas for the point of demonstrating the daftness :p)

But I do understand it's not Flux making that decision but the companies they go to - still daft though :(

Youre lucky 110, I posted in one of the AF threads and no one has got back to me. AF weren't willing to cover me because I have a cherished older vehicle which I sometimes use for business purposes. Apparently this is hugely risky!:confused:
I cant understand this, seems to be money for old rope for them, I too have never claimed in 30 years of motoring and hope not to do so.My landy is slow and very carefully maintained. Money wasn't the issue, we didn't get to prices, they just didn't have a policy at all.
Apart from the fact they don't do Agreed Value I am happy with my insurance and it is reasonably priced, I contacted AF as I wanted something specialized to my needs but they really didn't seem interested.

If its of any Interest,Last week I had my renewal notice come through, (NOT A/F ) And my company wanted £55 more this year.So I went on Go Compare for a look and guess what came back the cheapest........AA £155 fully comp plus use for work etc.Discovery TD5.My Other company wanted £275...... So the AA it was.

Mines up for renewal in July. Iv actually been happy with the service and price I got from flux. But then again iv not really had any issues for them to handle badly.

I just hope they give me a decent renewal why the time comes.
