Hi guys im back agaiin after buying my mate and fellow work companions 97 4.0se rioja red with almost every optional extra,20 inch new shape alloys,cream leather,a/c,sunroof,elec cream leather,145k miles 2 owners fsh, bought it at an absolute bargain price of £300,he has had the car for over 7 years and has had no expense spared on the maintenance of her.although she has been standing for just over 12months as he had a work accident and could not use it now he lost all interest in it so ive had it.
My question is.
charged the battery up and everything comes up including all noises windows not set etc.
but also engine disabled comes up press remote fob or keycode.
press fob nothing not evening central locking works,have entered the eka code twice and still nothing,have also tried the procedure where you disconnect battery open door put key in ignition and turn ignition on then reconnect battery but still nothing.
please help need to get posing in the old girl will get pics up of her asap

tried new batterys in fob even checked the date on them and was oct2015 so i pressume they are ok.

do the code quick dont pause or hesitate when doing it, i made this error with mine , thought was microswith or wrong eka, put drivers window down so you see the side light symbol reading each key turn as this will light up each time

i noticed the light symbol coming on,should this come on every time i go left/right then back to the centre or just when i do the first lot of lefts then the 2nd lot of rights etc.

just been out as its getting dark and tried eka again,the side ligt marker comes on evertime i go clockwise then middle and anti clockwise then back to the middle,but still no joy with starting.

this is what i done, open car try start, then take out key and lock drivers door insert key and enter code starting with turns to the right i think depending on the age of your p38 you may need to begin the sequence with 4 turns to the left first on drivers l

lock then enter eka straight away, i had my indicators flashing 3 times each turn ignore them tho u need make sure the side light symbol lights up on every key turn as this is the becm reading what your inputting

Silly question have you added an extra 4 in front of code, as you need a five digit code.

hi jd,
yes 4 anti clockwise first,then the first number clockwise,then anticlock wise the number needed,then clockwise the number needed,then anticlockwise the number needed,the back once clockwise.
even bought another 2 energizer batterys today 2025 number
retried eka today still nothing
tried holding lock button on key inserting key in door still pressing lock,turned anticlockwise for 3 seconds still holding lock button then back to middle and take key out then release lock button but still no joy,
also retried putting key in ignition turn ignition remove live and earth battery leads turn key to ignition on position and reconnect live and earth still no joy.
SOMEONE HELP PLEASE

It's time you sent a PM to IRISHROVER or RICK THE PICK for some reliable independant advice.
There is a feature on these cars that, for various reasons, can lock the car totally and you need serious electronic plug-in assistance to overcome.
You may need the help of a main stealer, a well equipped indie or there are a couple of mobile guys who appear on here from time to time and come very highly recommended.
Sorry but the alzheimers is going well this morning and I can't think of any names.
