Intermotor part is set to arrive today. I'll fit it tonight if the part is delivered.

In looking at the fuse box satellite 1, I cannot believe this, but the engine management fuse has been removed. Was this done during the LPG conversion? I assume that the engine management fuse is for the ECU - is that right? If I run the engine on petrol is there any harm to putting the fuse back in for engine management? I think I may give it a go.

So I wonder what sensors have been disabled because of the LPG conversion - I guess all of the standard sensors are disabled if the fuse was removed for engine management.

What a mess. I have more to clean up now than I ever anticipated.

If its been running on petrol the ECU must have power. As for sensors etc, checks with multi meter on the big ECU multi plug should tell you if things are connected. I'm no expert on LPG but normally, the gas system is independent of the petrol system, the LPG may be tapped on to parts of the EFI such that it has power and possibly a control line for the fuel pump, it might also be that the fuse is removed so that when the LPG is on the power is cut to the ECU?

** Update **

Fit the ignition amplifier last night - kind of late as we had visitors. I felt a wee bit sheepish - I was clock watching the whole evening as I was itching to get out and work on the Disco. I did a quick volt check at the coil and the great news is that I had battery voltage readings where they should be.

Classic Kev - I did not check the resistance at the distributor connection as you suggested - I will do that eventually.

So - I tried to turn over the engine and guess what?? NOTHING HAPPENED. I was gutted. As it was late I left it and went to bed, feeling quite down.

Tonight I had a plan - I was going to check the solenoid - before getting out all my electrical test kit I got a heavy spanner and gave a few hefty taps on the solenoid, then I went to try and start it.

SHE STARTED! I let out a rebel yell and punched the sky! I am just back from a 30 minute drive and she ran very well. Idle was pretty good, too.

I intend to start driving it again regularly - I may need to get a new solenoid and do a few other things, but for the next wee while I want to enjoy driving it again.

I am going to run out the LPG in the tanks and then I think I am going to rip out all of the LPG conversion and go back to the original wiring setup - just as she was meant to be. I might make a party out of it and I'll invite you up North here to Scotland to join in the fun, if anyone is interested.

Mr. Noisy and Classic Kev - you guys are super helpful. You gave me courage and inspiration and a lot of good information that helped me to persevere with the challenges I was facing. The success feeling is wonderful.

THANKS A MILLION!!!
