Indeed - BMW has trouble keeping the oil on the inside of those Td4 engines too.
 
so if one dont go for a 1.8 hippoo, a V6 hippoo or a diesel hippoo - which model wud yu guys suggest?
 
Honda CRV 2.0 petrol. Mrs Widgey lived with one for 6 months and much preferred it to the Hippo (because it didn't blow up, did sensible fuel consumption and worked).
 
only oil leak on mine is a damp patch on the IRD (prop output oil seal)
but nowt that needs to be topped up between normal service routines..
