Yesterday i pulled a trailor about 150 miles yesterday, half empty and half full but not to heavy. Google did take me backa different way with loads of speed bumps!!
Driving it this morning and thought what's that knocking from the rear. Had a look though the near side lower shock mount had lost its fixing nut. Crawled under and pulled the washer of to find that the nut was still there and the washer had worn a hole the shape of the nut and slipped over. Pic included. Anyone seen it before??

Never seen that before but it looks a lot like the dampers have been stretched and maxed out a few too many times, are they standard shocks with extended springs? it can be that the springs are +2" but on standard shocks and they are maxing out and pulled the nut through the washer.

Standard springs and shocks I believe. Only bought it Feb last year.
Although I'm pretty sure they are the early type bush which stopped around 94? This one should have the layer type whicj are bigger??

Does it have the cups for the bushes on the shock mount?
It is the same washer as the one above thats let the nut pull through.
Ive attached pics of it apart and the shock mount on the axle and the other side which has bigger bushes.

Notice you live on the coast, perhaps seawater corrosion.
Thanks, it could be but I think the bushes are wrong as the diameter is smaller than the ones on the other side.

One question do the cup things come out of the mount or are they part of it.
anyone know the correct part numbers for the bottom bushes and washers and nut for a 1995
Discovery 1 300Tdi vin TA....

Cheers all

Trust me when I say my hand has hovered over the bin with it three time now.
not heard that clunk of metal yet.
I thinks i've grown attached to it - or is it the attention??;)

Wallop the cups off with a cold chisel, they are supposed to have cone type bushings that compress into the cups, just fit standard rubber bushings with new flat washers, do the same both sides to be safe.

I thought they might be pressed in.
But I was thinking of if they need replacing due to the shock banging around.
Are the earlier type better then??
Thanks for your help
