Tyres that make too much noise as determined by the EU, will have an extra tax/penalty imposed on them from November 2012.[3]

Best they start slapping extra tax on all the fookin boy racers with exhausts bigger than a bigger thing and scooby drivers as well then,Oh and fookin Harleys as well:mad:

My house is set back about 15/20 mtrs away from a busy A road and the only time it's quiet is when it's gridlocked.
It's got a 40 limit on the road and the noise is unbearable but a lot of this is to do with the road surface.
I battled for years to get the council to either drop the speed limit to 30,re-surface the road or build a sound deadening structure of some sort but to no avail.
I even proved with the aid of a DB meter that the levels were a LOT higher than acceptable levels but did they do anything,NO.
My kids are going to either grow up deaf or have hearing problems in later life because of the constant noise

the following categories are excluded from the scope

retread tyres
professional off road tyres
racing tyres
studded tyres
temporary use spare tyres
tyres designed to be fitted on vehicles registered for the first time before 1 October 1990
tyres whose speed rating is less than 80km/h 50mph
tyres whose nominal rim diameter dose not exceed 254mm or 635mm

WHY professional off road tyres are excluded from labelling !!
POR tyres are specially designed to reach exceptional adherence performances in poor condition and in all terrain, which dose not allow them to fulfil regulatory thresholds and significant grading levels.
