So what are you saying then?????????? you forgot to mention the or's
That scenario is the same for the UK in part. I have friends who have great car businesses, each with a tip-top customer base, only for them to have severe problems in finding good mechanics.
The previous government has spent so much effort in sending people to higher education that our skilled workforce is now depleted.
durhams a bit different as the uni influences it alot. good for going out though
Britain is suffering from the same problem it always had, people who are willing to do a job that requires them to get their hands dirty are looked down on - be it sparky or cnc setter, Britain has always undervalued its craftsmen.
saying that, you try to get people to take on apprentices ( proper ones not the current 6 month to a year our shower of ****er government came up with) no ones interested.
with over 2million unemployed you wouldnt think there was a shortage here, but weve been advertising for over a year for a skilled pcv technician with only 2 applicantions. one of these was a carpet fitter with no experience carpet fitting nevermind pcv repair.

a good mechanic at a dealership will make 60-80K in the US and Canada
how little can a 44 year old mechanic know ?Well it sure as #### aint that here even if thats in dollars.
We have 2 new (allegedly) mechanics that started with us. 1 aged 25 and aged 44. We call them the apprentices!!! Its fecking unbelievable how little they know.
It seems to me that half the problem is a lot of apprentices are employed based on qualifications...ok they do need qualifications as most of the schoolies we get in are so thick...but no consideration is made to wheather they like cars!!
