how little can a 44 year old mechanic know ?

Youd be amazed!!! He has never been in a gearbox or a diff, never set wheel alignment, doesn't touch electrics or aircon as doesnt know anything about them, cant weld, knows nothing about diesels other than change the fuel filter if thats doesnt work put car to diesel guy.

Worked for dad for 20 years....doing services and MOTs. Dad retired and handed garage to younger brother who kicked our new mechanic out!!!

The best of 3 who applied to Ford main dealer!!

Im all good then.

Britain is suffering from the same problem it always had, people who are willing to do a job that requires them to get their hands dirty are looked down on - be it sparky or cnc setter, Britain has always undervalued its craftsmen.
saying that, you try to get people to take on apprentices ( proper ones not the current 6 month to a year our shower of ****er government came up with) no ones interested.

there's a lot of one or two man bands in the uk, and that's great; but the cost and bureaucracy of having an apprentice is insane.

for a lot of them it isn't worth the hassle to hire staff, even though they have the work to keep them employed.

well according to the lists - im not wanted in Canada, NZ or Australia :(

Damn - back to the millionaire in the UK wanting his own therapist option :D

never heard of Michigan fever:confused::confused: Explain could be called something else??????

Could be ? Maybe ? 'Michigan Fever' is the story of Scottish families who left their farms in southwestern Scotland and came directly to a section of southeastern Michigan in the eighteenth century.

Did they get snowed in during the winter, or was it the mosquitoes during the summer making them sick. There are a bunch of Scottish named towns
there

Now that you gave some info, I have never heard that phrase before

not until you said 1800's and Scottish. Sounded like you was trying to start ****.

We have a term cabin fever.

Cabin fever is a claustrophobic reaction to being cooped up for a long period of time. Nothing to do with 'Michigan Fever' at all.
