Christ, just realised with a start I never replied here after all the helpful suggestions! What a dreadful bloke. Anyway, my lovely RR went into the specialist and it turned out the ICE/amp was incredibly corroded. There wasn’t any obvious sign of water damage in the boot but I’ll know next time to unplug the amp and inspect the connectors. ‘cos look at them:

Anyway, the ‘warranty’ the dealer promised quickly evaporated when I told him it needed a new amplifier. Thankfully he agreed to refund and collect the car. So I’m not massively out of pocket. But I do need a new Range Rover! Still looking for a post-2006 green one with cream leather...that’s been better looked after.

Thats a shame but maybe a good thing in the long run.
May your next green oval adventure be your best ever... Or... For a few weeks at least. :p;)

Does a thread from March ‘21 count as a necropost?! Anyway, there’s a happy ending (for now) in that I brought home my new toy this week. Late 2006 3.6 TDV8. Can’t stop looking at her. A joy to drive. Booked in to my local specialist for a service and inspection soon so then I guess I’ll see what I’ve bought!

Oh the one that eats it's turbos:eek: has it got service history? I think it's the turbo pipes that are the problems as they run close to the exhaust and end up choked.how many miles has it done?;)

Haha, yup, that’s the one! It’s been remapped to bypass the EGR valves and had the turbos replaced. But 148k so I’ll have to keep an eye on them. And keep on top of the gearbox maintenance with the remapping!

Looks great hope your inspection is as good to look at. Happy motoring.
Tricky :)
