I removed the tunnel cover a few days ago as I don't have any reverse lights and my diff lock was seized.
I managed to get the difflock to move but no light on dash, but what I did notice was half the loom that runs over the gearbox has corroded and is no longer there (see photo). I believe this is the reason I have no diff lock light of reverse light. I put some self amalgie tape around it as I intend taking off the road later in year to do some jobs on it.
Is this part of the main loom or the chassis loom as I intend to repair the loom not replace it.

Is that not the main live cable from the battery to your starter? Can you not follow it to your battery box?

Not sure on the colour but when I traced it back near enough the top rear of gearbox was the plug/connector for the reverse lamp.

If you have a multimeter check the voltage to earth.
If you get 12V (or anything but NOT on the battery cable!!) short the wire to earth and see which lamp lights up on your dash, then connect that one to the relevant switch and all should be good.
However, if you get a big flash and a bang, then the cable is a feeder to something else.:eek:
It really would help if you could give us the colours of the cables before we manage to melt them all :D:D:D

I don't think it's listed as part of the main or rear loom. The reverse and diff lock wires on my early model just connect individually into the main loom plug in the engine bay.
