Hi, I've noticed that my front windscreen heaters aren't working (pretty evident in the recent frosty mornings). I 've checked the fuses and relay and have verified voltage at the two plug connectors at either side of the screen. This would indicate the problem is at the actual connections onto the screen itself so a can anyone tell me if those connections are soldered or are they spades ? Also can anyone point me in the righy direction for removing the wiper trim to gain access to the connections. The screen is definately fitted with the heating element as you can see the fine mesh throughout but it does strike me as strange that both sides would be shagged i.e both have become disconnected or dry soldered - i've only had the Disco 2 since November.
Any advise will be much appreciated

Might not be faulty connections, could be faulty earthing.

I'd check the fuses and the big cables under the vbonnect and the earths. DOes the ligth on the dsah light up? if not then check the relay

The fuses and relay are ok as I'm getting 14 volts across the two cores at each windscreen plug (having disconnected the cables which disappear behind the wiper trim) which proves it isn't a faulty earth / return also. I'm thinking it must be where the wires actually connect to the screen behind the wiper trim. Has anyone removed the wiper trim ? Are the screen connections spade crimps or soldered ?

Am keeping a close eye on this one , have the same problem fuses , relay all working getting voltage up to the connectors under the bonnet, keep me up to speed with this one , will be interested in if you get it fixed and how

Could of course simply be that both screen elements have gone and you need a new windscreen.
Might help if you were to drive behind a few wagons for a while and get it broken / chipped.
Thats what insurance is for.:)

I hear what your saying about claiming on windscreen insurance but don't want to pay £60 - £70 excess for something that can be fixed. I've also read other posts on leaking windscreens after replacements have been poorly installed so would rather steer clear of that route.

I have a similar fault on my Vogue front screen. Cable to bottom LH screen connector smoking (think it's the wiper heater bit along the bottom). Had to remove fuse. New screen ?
