Hi when I wind the window up fully on the drivers door there is a repeating banging noise so i took the panel off and shone a torch on the the motor cog whilst pressing the window button and the cog is continously turning and slipping on the teeth of the arm. it only does it when the window is fully up and it is showing a message saying window not set, i have set the window but message stays the same!?! Does anyone have any idea how to fix it? Its a 1997 P38 Cheers

Yep window regulator gone, regular fault. You can fool the system and set the window by putting a 2 inch block of wood between the window and the top of the frame when you run the window up. Rimmers Bros are good for regulators, easy job to do.

Thanks guys thats great, how easy is it to change the regulator and replace the door handle cable? Much appreciate some help!

One of the most common posts on here.
A "Cheat" to get rid of the Window Not Set message is to place a piece of 3" thick timber between the glass and top of the opening, raise the window and this will fool the system into thinking that the window is set.

Nice one cheers ive ordered the regulator off ebay £34 inc postage, quality, and door handle cable so fingers crossed!
