i have a defender 90 TD5 and im considering fitting a 4.2 twin turbo v8 diesel that has 650Nm torque with a tiptronic gearbox from an audi A8 does anyone think its possible with a bit of persuasion that it may fit or anything that could be a major problem? cheers :D

i remember another thread covering an audi engine install...try a search..might come up

it will be a pain in the arse to install. you will not only have to change g box but diffs and drive shafts as well cos of all that torque.

do you think i might get away with changing the props n diffs with it being automatic the transfer boxs are pretty tuff too?

i dont know how much torque a defender drive train can cope with but i remember hearing that the 2.8tgv motor that some ppl wedge in blows diffs, shafts n g boxes with half as much torque as ur audi motor. im not tryin to discourage you i think its a great idea would very much like to see the result.

You would get away with it if you could also replace the diffs, halfshafts and flanges for HD versions then went easy on it when offroading.
