hi can any one help iv got a p38 diesel with an intermittent fault. it starts runs and drives fine. Then some times after pulling up it will not rev but then clears and away it goes can any one help:mad:

no that's why im on here asking I was thinking some one could help

Basically the throttle potentiometer signals the ECU what percentage of throttle is required. The ECU then signals the pump to move the quantity control collar to increase fuel to give that engine speed, the crank position sensor then tells the ECU that that engine speed has been reached. Which part of that do you want me to guess is faulty?

Love it, I think that basically translates into "stick it up your pipe and smoke it"

why is there a tone to your txt if you can not help then do not reply

I absolutely fooking hate you. Yu bastid yoo've made me agree with Wammers. Cnut

Get it in a garage or on a diagnostics machine. does this look like the clairvoyants R Us forum???

#### off only trying to fix a car

What's the point of asking for advice. if ya gonna spit your dummy when you get it?? Wammers knows more about rangies than I do about ****ing. & I know a lot... If he say it needs plugging into a pooter. It needs plugging into a pooter. Now Fook orf and find a pooter to plug it into ..

So basically Gaylover needs to replace:- throttle potentiometer, ECU, pump and the crank position sensor then come back and tell us if that's fixed it or not?

I gave you the best advice i can, put it on diagnostics. You then came back with an inane "Is that the best you can come up with" Yes it is. Or you could change the throttle potentiometer. If that doesn't work change the ECU. If that doesn't work change the injector pump. Hows that.

A bit strong!

thanks wammer I will take a look at those points

Just get diagnosed. Intermittent faults are impossible to diagnose. The diagnostics may have something recorded to give you a start point. Other than that everything is a guess. Other than engine control related it is not possible to be more specific.
