hi, i am looking at de-cating and putting a straight through middle pipe on my disco 1 which i use for both road and off-road driving, does anyone know if this will this create any problems with my MOT?

Hasn't with mine for the last 6 years or so ...

Mine went through MOT Oct 2012 with exactly the same set up.Passed no problem. What I did notice that after I put the straight thru system on the revs at idle increased to about 850-900rpm so had to adjust back down.Getting at least another 2mpg as well.Bit more exhaust noise evident too so just turn the stero up!

Just be sure to weigh it in at the scrappers. :D

And mine has been through 2 MOTs with no CAT now.

Diesels dont require a cat in this country for MOT only to be sold from new with one for EU regs probably. Just like the EGR valve, great in theory when new but better rid of it on an old car.

If its a diesel engine we are talking about then the device that was removed is actually a diesel particulate filter (DPF), catalytic convertors are only fitted to petrol engines.
The DPF and EGR are fitted to modern diesel cars to meet emission regulations such as EURO3 so reducing the amount of diesel "soot" in the air. This soot is carciogenic ie it causes cancer - Mortality from diesel soot exposure in 2001 was at least 14,400 out of the German population of 82 million, according to the official report 2352 of the Umweltbundesamt Berlin (Federal Environmental Agency of Germany). You can bet a proportinate number of british people are dying in the same way.
Ask yourself if getting some practaclly immeasuarble performance incresase is worth giving people cancer.

This reminds me of when I was parked in town with the engine running to keep warm when all of a sudden this bloke told to me to switch the Disco off the cheeky fecker

My later D2 TD5 came out of the factory without a CAT or DPF as standard, did LR change their minds about the Germans ?
Truckerdan - I bet the silly bu**er had left his heating on at home.
Anyway, everything gives us cancer these days........ it'll probably be taxed soon.
