I am doing that with my 1990 range rover classic. I do alot of town trving so I am only getting 163 miles per £70 ish fill up.

luckily for me thats normally only every 3 weeks :D

my 72 rrc will be on gas when its done

My disco is on petrol.

only use it for playing about, its ridiculous/laugh out loud funny how expensive it is!

costs me approx 60 quid for an hour drive at 50mph, an off road day, and then the same drive home.

it also costs approx £120 for a 140 mile round trip that i make in the summer down to abersoch, which is 70 mile there, a week running around and 70 mile back.

i think it does about 8-10 mpg on the 33" tyres.

BUT of course i dont use it much, only when i want to! :D

Disco1 v8 3.9 auto,
Mines just petrol, not completely filled it up yet, i reckon at least 200 miles to a tank tho, on a run,

I just chuck 30 quid in when i take it out for a play

3.9 Defender and I run it on Petrol. I dont go much places altho Lat year I used it to go to work a lot and that would cost me near 20quid to do 90 miles each day

My series IIa is on petrol,no idea how much fuel it uses - but it brings home all the firewood,(One woodburner and rads off it are all we have.) so its a bit irrelevant really when all my neighbours are spending £10-15 a day on heating oil.And buying firewood aswell at £80 a load......

I only use petrol in my 3.9 RRC.

I suppose I don't do big miles in it most of the time and £30.00/week is about what I use.

On a run consumption varies enormously but I reckon on anything from 18mpg up to 23mpg. Fooling around in the mud/snow or just booting it everywhere I reckon on as little as 6mpg (but not often!!) but as an average I would say 12mpg.

I run my '87 Vogue auto on the fuel it was designed for. Overall consumption, town & county driving but no short trips to the shops 17mpg, rising to 22/23 on long journeys inc. motorway speeds. I tried LPG on the first of my four RRC's (a 3.9) but never again.

Just worked mine out and on a country road run every day through a couple of towns I was getting about 22-23mpg.Not bad really.

Im sure I read an old 2.5NA diesel was 23mpg? So not bad for a V8

Just Petrol for me.

It really is just a back up car day to day now since we got a new family car and is used mostly to tug the caravan about. still returns about 18-19 towing the caravan though so not terrible, but not great.
Big dilema though...Disco is really surplus to needs now as new car will pull caravan quite capably..am holding onto the Disco for now but if money gets tight it might have to make an appearance in the 'for sale' section.

agreed!

mine ran on petrol only due to the LPG system having a leaky injector. probably not bother with LPG after I fix up the chassis and tune the engine though

I'm getting about 14-15 mpg out of my 3.9 auto in my 90 towing my boat which is about a tonne on the trailer. I had a rrc 3.9 auto on gas which self destructed so would never go gas again lol
