as ive been told its the rings im thinking of finding a short block and rebuild my engine anyone wanna help i will return the favour ;)

J that sounds very tru could be a valve thinks we gonna do a comp test u wanna pop ova yes i know joe thats who i swaped my RR dse with for a 4.6 hse

petrol 4.0 come on you know you want to help..

Bit far for me J. Besides i have lots of other things to play with. Fitting a short engine without busting bores and fitting new rings and bearings along with an oil pump is a bit of a false economy. No matter how good it looks. Rebuilding an engine without a valve job is also a bit pointless. Maybe a set of rings, shells, oil pump and a valve job is all the old engine needs.

ok people quick update i did comp test came back good but the last cylinder on the drivers bank is oiling up this engine recently had the HG done and heads skimmed would i be right thinking the oiling up is down to oil stem seal ?

V8s in general have this problem as the oil drains to the back because they lean back a little in the vehicle. Yes it will almost certainly be a valve stem oil seal. Changing a head gasket and NOT doing a valve job or at least taking a look at them is a little bit of a waste of time in my book.

ok i have a receipt here infront of me from A&L MOTORS in preston stating that they replaced both HG and resurfaced heads hmm now im sure doing this you would strip the heads to resurface them maybe im wrong but if im right then they should have fitted new valve stem seals
