hello,
cleaned out the inter cooler today, couldn't believe the amount of crap that came out!!!! now runs better and smoother. thing is now i have whistle/screech noise when the buss is pulling a bit, don't know if its something i have unknowingly done or coincidence.
don't know if its the turbo or what (hope not)

anyone any ideas or had this problem :)

I'm planning on doing that on my old 200tdi,as for the noise check all the pipes are secure and none have split when they were disturbed

checked and re-checked, sounds like a woodshop saw!!!! :)

Had a similar problem to this on one of the trucks at work.
It may be that now you have cleaned out the intercooler etc, you are getting proper boost pressure, which will find any weak spots further on.
Check your inlet manifold gasket, when turbo is on full boost it can make this noise if the gasket is breaking up..
You may even have a small hole in the intercooler which is no longer sealed by the crud you washed out.

cheers boomer,

i like the sound of the inlet gasket allot better than the sound of a new inter cooler!!!! ;)

how long did it take for the clean out of your intercooler?? need to do this myself this week, i too have a pretty noisey whisle as i run more boost but mine not constant, its more like........best way to describe it is in dashes, almost the same noise pattern as what an injector would produce visually if you get what i mean??

know what you mean raz - more right foot more whistle - but not every time if that makes sence!!

didnt take long, getting the fan couwl out the way and bottom hose was a bit of a pig. 5 quid of unleadded swished through then rinsed it out with the hose pipe- i couldnt belive how much ****e came out even after flushing the petrol through!

i left it to dry most of the day (moving it round the garden following the sun) whilst i did some other bits on the motor, but if you leve out the drying bit probably about 30 mins- easyer than i thought it would be

forgot to mention raz,
when you start it back up it might sound like ya bottom end has dropped out! apparently its quite normal its just what hasn't drained properly. didn't do it first time for me but second time i started it....... ooh brown trousers time!!!!!!!! but it was OK :D

I had exactly the same noise/problem when I cleaned my intercooler out.Screetching noise, when I first looked at it I could find nothing wrong so assumed the intercooler had a hole somewhere so I left it for a while.Had another look and found the bottom intercooler hose loose, tightend it up and problem solved.Check and double check your hose connections, particually the harder to reach ones.

wtf??? hehe, how long did the noise last for?

the belly falling out sound just happened the once- thank fook!! :D :D

will check all the connections at the weekend to find the screech, to dark after work- maybe thats the problem it was getting dark when i was putting it back together, may have a hose not quite seated right
