When under load the exhaust might be touching something as it sits quite close to everything on the front end, possibly
where the cross member is. Engine & gearbox mounts ok. ??
My first thoughts were exhaust too. I have replaced the right side engine mount as the rubber looked a bit perished. I cant move them with a crowbar so presumed them to be okay now.

Both the words "stupid" and "D1" are simply adjectival, and both describing the noise. So I doubt that the OP really thinks his D1 is stupid.
As for "i" before "e". the rule in full is "i before e, except after c, WHEN THE SOUND IS "EE" " Few seem to know this but if they do the rule works very well.
And knowing the solution to a member's problem, but refusing to tell him, is childish in the extreme. So feck off out of the Forum you tw@t.
Cheers you understood, I did mean the noise is stupid, I love the car have done much work to it

I have just recently solved this exact same issue

But the use of "stupid" and "D1" in the same sentence precludes me from sharing this sought after information

an appropriate picture of you being flogged with a steel winch cable or some other suitable punishment might jog my memory

as an aside to another Landy thread - the i before e rule is a lot of codswallop
You have left me on tender hooks, what is this mystery information you are withholding?

twas in jest

but some more info might help as I do have the same vehicle but with 800 k on the clock so good chance I have experienced the same

Jeez 800k must be rather well maintained.
Mines only on 120k lol
I don’t know how to explain it much better sorry,
Rather loud bang rattling comes in low rpm under load - uphill. Sounds mechanical.
Not heard at all cruising or accelerating on the flat in any gear.
Checked everything I can see and nothing seems to move at-all. Most of its underneith is less than 18 months old trucks had a lot done to it.
I’m wondering whether to just push it hard uphill and hope whatever it is breaks. Il know what to fix then 😂😂

low rpm - so below 2000 rpm - and therefore before the turbo kicks in ?

in terms of maintenance - i halve all the recommended oil changes and a madman tells me every thing I need to know re temps and pressure

Hm played with it today paying more attention to exactly when it happens. Seems to be just as the turbo kicks in.
I’m going to check the waste gate when I get time. Seems it could be possible and something I have not checked yet. Turbo is fine checked that but never touched the waste gate. Fingers crossed
