Ok the fuel pump is making a high pitched whining noise. The fuel filter was changed, no difference. The fuel pump has been changed, better for about 800 miles then the whining has started up again. No noticeable loss of performance and it starts ok. Bit of a loss what to do next. Planning to take it back to garage that fitted pump(non franchise land rover specialist) any ideas in the mean time
many thanks
Pete

Hi Pete, I would be getting it back to the garage pronto. How much did they charge you for the pump? Original equipment one should have been about £165+vat and an aftermarket one about £100+vat. If they charged you for an LR one but fitted a cheap one that could constitute fraud.

In any cause it's not right. So they should fix it.

I wonder if any tank muck has got into the gauze mesh filter at the bottom of the pump and causing it to strain?

Good luck

Dave

I changed my in tank fuel pump last year - the old one got very noisy .
The one I fitted was not OE and it has worked fine since - except for the fact if the tank goes below 1/4 on the gauge the pump gets noisy . The 'old' pump never made any noise so I reckon the replacement won't last anywhere near as long .

Going back to garage on Monday. Fuel pump whining worse than before changed. Would have thought there would be loss of power if air getting into fuel system.

Hi
Mine also makes a louder noise when it's just below the 1/4 mark
Changed the fuel filter but still no improvement :(
