I like them all really, hubby buys them for me!
I bought this months LROI thought it was OK actually...
4+ quid for what amounts to throne material does seem a bit steep IMHO!
I went through my "magazine phase" about 25 yrs ago when I was big into windsurfing. After a few yrs I had a pile of mags over 4 ft high, no-one wanted them. If you want reading material you're better off buying decent books you'll keep, or DVDs etc. otherwise it's 30 or 40 quid a year for a big pile of adverts.
My wife did pick me up an old LRclassic mag from the dentists which was interesting thrown reading, but I wouldn't pay for it, the useful info it contained is easily available on the web for nowt.
I haven't see another D1 for ages, one or two 2s and loads of 3s and a few 4s are around now and when I go to Chislehurst and Bromley in Kent all I see RR and RRS... nine the other Sunday.
Sometimes I think I'm driving the oldest car on the road with it's R reg u don't see many, if any, prefix or suffix registrations in my part of the world.
Please also chime in if you wouldn't buy any of the above! Reasons why etc... Or if you read something else you think is better... LAND ROVER MAGS THAT IS!!!! .... Yes I saw your brain working....
I bought LRM and LRO for about a year each, the articles just get rewritten with a slightly different slant on it and I got fed up reading them.
Workshop pages are only useful if you need to do that particular job and to be honest I've done just about every job including some of the most involved electrical repairs etc. so I don't think there is anything to learn from them any more, also there is a lot of Hippo chat when things fall off them that I don't need to worry about. If there is something I need to know I will look on Rave and even then it's usually for the obscure jobs, or to see what order 50 pieces go back into a component are.
The articles are repetitive, once you have seen a series, a Defender a RR and a Disco rebuilt you have seen them all, there is also more stuff and usually more photos on this site, it's free and you can ask questions of the poster.
I would maybe get it again once things have moved on and there are more Disco 3's and things coming up as project cars, if they ever make it to that stage.
As already said the best magazine was Land Rover Enthusiast, sadly no more.
Big point for me is lack of stories about Disco 1's and 2's. I think there are more Disco's out there than series and defenders. Just count how many Discos you see every day. Still, I get LRO and LRM on subscription every month. Must have a look for LR international.
Thats my tuppence worth folks,

Just out of interest what was it that made LRE Mag different?
As said above, repetitive 'ooh it's winter, here's how to keep warm ..', boring and repetitive 'on the X variant, 48 dome head rivets are used, whereas on the Y variant there are 44 Countersunk head rivets', full of adverts. I know adverts recoup a lot of the revenue of procudtion but FFS, when more than half the mag is advert and not editorial then it's way too much.
I prefer to see readers modifications and extras, not necessarily always for racing or competition, but for example the little mods that make a vehicle slightly more reliable for green-laning, like removing Disco plastic side sills that trap water and rot the sills prematurely. How people fit things in, like fridges, water carriers etc, where to take a fused 12v supply from, where to take a 12v supply that works from the ignition, that sort of thing.
For me though, forums and t'interweb are so immediate that they trump any magazine .. what I mean is, I can ask, 'where do I get a good 12v fused connection' and I'll get 38 replies within a couple of days. OK, 23 will be ****-takes, but a few will discuss the actual issue, and point a couple of ways to do it.
(Fixating on this a bit 'cos I just learnt a new one for me this week)
.. and the chat ..
Way better than a letters section, with no feedback or discussion.
