As an ex series owner, Defender user (works vehicles) Disco owner for 6 years and currently a Freelander owner, go on, and give one a try. Post 2001 TD4 is the only one to go for tho, as they (LR) nearly got it sorted by then.
Of course, Discos, Defenders and Rangies ARE totally without faults, absolutely reliable, cost nowt to fix, use hardly any fuel, and pull the birds (or guys)......................
