Hi,

I'm working on a 200tdi engine conversion on a Norwegian Exmod Series 3.

I've bought a recon 200tdi engine but I still need a Defender manifold to make it clear the chassis.
After making a few inquiries, it seems like Defender manifolds are rarer than hens teeth: Paddock's and others list these as N/A, ebay does not list any.

Are there no aftermarket sources for this part? With the normal abundance of LR parts, I find it hard to believe that this part should be so difficult to obtain.

Any tips on how to aquire one would be gratefully accepted.

After looking at the Steve Parker website it seems like the 300tdi manifold option is worth looking at. My concern is that this is a LHD vehicle and space is scarce on the turbo/manifold side. A high turbo position is preferable.

(Yes, it can be converted to power steering, but I live in Norway where the nazi's still reign the national roads administration. Going through a PS conversion is not worth it.)

A Defender 200tdi manifold would save me a lot of trouble but it seems like they don't exist. I will give Steve Parker a call tomorrow though. Thanks for the tip.

I picked up a 300tdi manifold (common to disco and defender) for £20 off eBay if thats any use. Haven't fitted it yet so can't personally say whether its alright or not, I do have a project thread up in the series section with pics etc if its any use.

I gave Steve Parker a call and he was kind enough to offer to check if the 300tdi exhaust manifold would fit my SIII LHD. I'll call his workshop again this week with the key measurements.
I'll update the thread with the result.

After talking to Steve Parker again Friday, it seems that the 300tdi option is not guaranteed to clear the steering assembly for a LHD. It would probably require the turbo outlet port to be pointed in another direction which might be an option according to Steve.

So, the engine will be thrown in normally aspirated for the time being. I'll might buy myself a set of defender manifolds next time I pop to to buy unicorn beef and hens teeth.

Steve Parker offered great service and was a most helpful chap. I purchased his conversion exhaust kit so that I'll be prepared in case a set of defender manifolds miraculously appear.
