I've taken drastic measures to try and wean my Landy addiction. I've SORN'd Drover in anticipation of his resto getting a bloody good kickstart - boot floor being the first job, unless we find other stuff that needs tackling first.

I've bought a 2004 Merc C200 that I practically have to fall in to after Drover. Will the Merc wean me away from landies - I severely doubt it. I'll probably miss Drover like mad and re-tax him just 'for a run out' and I'll then be forking for 3 cars not 2!!
 
i spent about 4k rebuilding mine with new suspension/engines/brakes/axle rebuilts..... after 5 years of ownership.

many friends told me it would never ride again.

not so funny now hans..... ive got my retro ninety taxed and tested and driving it round in the summer sun ready for winter and loving driving it again.

After going shopping with 10k in my pocket to buy a new one and realising that spending 10k didnt get me a truck in any less need of repair than the 28 year old one i have..... but 10k goes along way to getting my one sorted out.

now the mechanicals are sorted out i have no qualms about purchasing a galv bulkhead and chassis when the mot man says i need to.

Novelty wore off the other day, when I went out in a 2005 Dodge Ram double cab with a Hemi engine.

Similar situation for me with my D2, done full driveline rebuild over the last year including engine. It's getting a new chassis this month. A lot cheaper all in than replacing with a modern car with the same capabilities -not even sure what that would be, D3, D4? And TBH I think the D2 was the absolute last classic 'real' Land Rover.
